Install Indicator Workspaces in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal

I think it was actually not GNU/Linux developers but Apple who invented the idea of workspaces in desktop environments. Anyhow, workspaces or the virtual desktops (might I call them) in GNU/Linux was there as long as I can remember. Both GTK written Gnome and Qt/KDE desktops give users the ability to switch between them easily via applets on the panels.

If you want to switch between your Workspace easily in Ubuntu Linux Unity desktop then there is an indicator applet written for that purpose. Once installed it lets you choose things like...

*. How many workspaces you want.

*. Within how many rows that you want them to be displayed.

Well, that's about it. As said it's pretty simple and straightforward. You can install Indicator Workspaces in Ubuntu 11.04, 10.10 or 10.04 by entering the below command in your GNU/Linux Terminal.

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:geod/ppa-geod

    apt-get update

    apt-get install indicator-workspaces

In Unity's dash, search for "indicator-workspaces" or just enter it after using "Alt" + "F2" keys on your keyboard. That's it.
