And just like that, if you can't or won't accept proprietary software but still wanna create some gorgeous looking graphics using your GNU/Linux powered PC or Laptop, then you really can't escape drifting towards Inkscape and Gimp for sure.
So as a "digital artist", if you're already a member of Deviantart and creating your graphics using those powerful tools, then if you want to upload your "arts" directly to Deviantart account. Until today, you had to first create it using one of the the two of those apps, then open your web browser and logging into your Deviantart site then click on "upload" ... you know, it's time consuming and sucks.
Finally... :) |
But starting with today, DoctorMo has some really good news for ya all art geeks :P. They've built a plug-in that integrates with both Gimp and Inkscape, now whenever you create a picture or a graphic, you can upload them directly to your Deviantart account within those applications!.
Tell me, tell me how to install it man!... okay okay, easy :).
Open your Terminal and enter the below command to install the all new Deviantart stash plugins for Gimp/Inkscape in Ubuntu 11.04 (should work for 10.10 and 10.04, etc as well).
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:doctormo/deviantart-plugins*. Once installed, you should be able to find them via (in Gimp): "Image" -> "Publish to" -> "deviantArt Stash".
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp-plugin-dastash inkscape-extension-dastash
*. For Inkscape go to: "Extensions" -> "Publish to" -> "deviantArt Stash". That's it, enjoy.
